Tucked below the Plantation house, the Hunters Lodge sits snuggly in a wooded glen, hidden from the road and the North Wind. Once the carriage house for the old Plantation, the newly remodeled cottage has captured the spirit of a rough-sawn cabin and the comfort of modern life. The decor is charming with animal themes in each room. It is a cozy space with an open-plan kitchen and living area, where the old beams show off the early construction. A large gas-fired stone fireplace dominates the space and offers warmth and softly flickering light to the room. The mantle has been constructed of beams from a nearby barn which was the oldest in the area, and some of the beams still resemble the trees from which they were hewn so many years ago. |
| The kitchen is fully equipped for use including a microwave and a washer and dryer. Cookware, essential condiments, tableware and dishes are provided. Wood countertops, and mesh cabinet doors give the kitchen a rustic feel. |

The Hunters Lodge has 4 separate bedrooms on two levels, with a full-size bed in each room. The bedrooms share 2 roomy, bright bathrooms with large new showers. The downstairs bathroom also has an oval bathtub. Linens and towels are provided and the Hunters Lodge has regular housekeeping services. There's nothing for you to bring along except food if you plan to use the kitchen to cut down on meal costs, or extra towels if you like.
You will be fascinated with the wildlife themes in the rooms: from deer antler curtain brackets and tree branch curtain rods to the antler chandelier in the middle of the TV room which casts an inviting light. There are duck lamps and pillows, and moose in the bathrooms holding up the towels. The bedrooms are themed with Bear, Deer, Fish and Squirrel. Live animals can often be seen right outside the windows. The woods and fields surrounding the Hunters Lodge are full of wildlife and deer often visit a nearby salt lick below the spring. Watch the birds in the birdfeeder from the picture window while you relax on the couch. A naturalized garden leads around back to a small patio area and grill. |

With DISH TV (including a VHS and DVD player) and access to the main house lounge and telephone, the Hunters Lodge offers an enchanting space to get away from it all and still have all the amenities of modern life. The Hunters Lodge is often the favorite of local taxidermy school students who come from many states and enjoy spending time together to focus on their studies in a relaxing, nature-themed place to call home-away-from-home. Hunting is permitted on a 75 acre area across from the Plantation and fishing areas abound locally. Between taxidermy class sessions and hunting season, the Hunters Lodge is open to the public for family vacations with real savings. Kids are free to explore the property, hiking and biking, and parents can save on meals by cooking at the Lodge. In combination with the five beautiful rooms in a separate wing of the Plantation house itself, this is a wonderful place for a family reunion.
